Awesome Wearable Technologies to Try Today
As we begin to talk about the internet of things, we keep coming back to wearables. Interestingly (but not surprisingly), technology has entered into every part of our lives--even the things we wear. As the wearable industry continues to grow, we're getting access to all kinds of awesome gadgets that make living a life of luxury easier than ever.
From fancy watches to glasses that make you look a little on the crazy side, wearable technologies are everywhere you look--through your fancy new glasses, of course.
Google Glass
Okay, we know you've probably heard of Google Glass, but it's so prevalent that it's worth mentioning. Google Glass has a lot of hype surrounding it, and for good reason. The glasses allow users to record videos, take photographs, call their friends, and access a database of maps. The early version of the product sold for $1,500--no word on final price for the public.
Pebble
While Pebble looks a lot like a wristwatch, it does so much more that that. It lets users know when they've been called, received a voicemail. and been texted. Not to be outdone by an old fashioned wristwatch, it also tells the time.
You can use it to find your way around since it has a GPS and you can track your stats when you run or hike. Born into this world as part of a Kickstarter campaign, it has long surpassed its goal. It's compatible with both Android and iOS and costs only $150.
Smart PJ
We're excited about anything pajama related (pajama jeans, anyone?) and this wearable is no exception. Using an app, you simply scan a pair of code embedded pajamas and your smartphone pulls up the perfect story to compliment your sleepwear.
The jammies use a new scanning technology (not QR codes) and are currently available only to children--but they're working on an adult version. For only $25, you can rest in peace.
OpenGo
OpenGo is a little thing that goes in your shoe, and is perfect for athletes who are either training or rehabilitating. It's produced by Moticon and comes with a flash drive, software, and a case. The cost is available only upon request, but the handy gadget does a great job of tracking important stats in a discrete way.
Electrozyme
For the health and exercise enthusiast, we introduce you to the Electrozyme. They're temporary tattoos that do more than must make you look totally cool--they measure lactate in your sweat. Then, the measurements make their way to the great internet where they track your electrolyte balance and overall level of hydration.
Of course, there are a ton of examples of amazing things happening in the wearable industry, and we continue to look forward to seeing how they grow and progress. And, because the industry is so progressive and competitive, we can expect to see some pretty affordable prices on our favorite gadgets!
